Fruitiser - pomegranate and raspberry.

Non alcoholic drinks in restaurants are sometimes a bit odd. I ordered this ordinary sounding pomegranate and raspberry drink in prezzo with an italian meal and it came with a wine glass. This confused me at first but I guess it's a stylish way to make people feel better about not drinking with a meal. The drink itself is a pleasantly light affair, but tastes more of the fizz of a wine than the fruits themselves. This actually works quite well with a meal, but would be less refreshing out and about on a hot day. In these late summer days it was a pleasant drink, and one I may have again. I will be tempted to drink from the bottle to be rebellious next time, just to prove some of us are proud of our soft drinks.

Travel review

Levi Roots of Dragon's Den reggae reggae fame has put his name on a lot of foods since his initial investment. Most of these are spicy, not too spicy but certainly full of heat. When I spotted this Caribbean Crush drink I thought it may of been the perfect thirst quencher. On a very hot saturday morning driving through town I needed something to cool down fast. This is probably too fizzy for that, but is still nice. It tastes a lot more fruity than Lilt and other mainstream brands. I liked it, but it's not special enough to actively hunt out like the Reggae Reggae Ketchup that I love so dearly is.

Channa chaat (hall green hindu temple)

As part of local diwali celebrations I visited hall green hindu temple. After giving thanks to lakshmi we were escorted to the food tent where there was a choice of seasonal dishes. I decided to go for the channa chaat as it had pomegranate sprinkled on the top. The mountain dew energy drink is none traditional, but I hadn't had chance to try it yet. The snack itself is multi layered and has crispy pastry, mint, yogurt, as well as lots of other mysterious things. While there is a spicy hit, the flavours are fantastic and the mixtures of textures are great. I managed to finish it with no issues, and my side of samosa that I had too. Thanks to Vijay for inviting me. :)

Divine 70% dark choc with raspberries

Raspberries live in white chocolate. This is their natural confectionary habitat, and where they are primarily observed by snackers all over Europe. Taking them out of their comfort zone and throwing them into one of the strongest dark choc out there seems like a wrong move. Suprisingly its not too bad. The raspberries start out strong but quickly become overwhealmed by the rich tones of the dark choc and as this melts the fruit reinvigorates and finishes on a sweet note. Its not your standard dark choc, but it's a lovely alternative to your typical raisin filled choc bar.

Quorn Vegetarian Frankfurters - Asda

I like meat. My fiancee is vegetarian. I tend to do the cooking. This combination means that I tend to want to find a few more exciting things to add to recipies to spice up meal time. I managed to convince her that quorn can be nice when cooked correctly with a good sauce, as bad quorn can be mushy and bland. I really like herta frankfurters. You get 100g of pasta, put in a pan with water and bring to the boil. Add 5 frankfurters with a few cuts to make them explode out and go back to the xbox for 10 min. Drain and add sauce and leafy greens and you have a propper meal with no effort. I did the same with the quorn frankfurters, the only difference being that you get 4 sausages in a pack to share instead of 10 and we had smiles instead of pasta. This seemed stingy when cooking but on eating this was ample. They were really really firm and massivly filling. It's like vegetarians didn't realise that even the best sausages aren't solid meat. My fiancee managed half a sausage before giving up due to their general texture and taste being alien to her veggie stomach. I ate the remaining but it sat really heavily and I didn't enjoy it. I love quorn but they are at their best when not copying meat dishes directly and just being influenced by them.
